NINE35 (pronounced, nine thirty five) was started in June 2010
The intent was to bring barrels into Canada for my new favorite rifle, the TC Encore.
Why? Well, after buying into the concept of a switch barrel rifle with a huge amount of potential for adding new calibers, I discovered they were nowhere to be had in Canada. So I formed NINE35 in order to fix that.
Since 2010 I have continuously had barrels in stock for the Encore platform. I do not believe there is another shop in Canada that can claim that.
Initially, I dealt with a major US retailer/wholesaler setting up appropriate export licenses in the US and had barrels shipped to me in Canada for resale. Shortly after I started operations, a large gun manufacturer bought out TC and streamlined the selection to only the "approved" calibers. Dealing with the new owner of TC was frustrating to the point that many US (and Canadian) retailers dropped the TC line. This included the group with which I was dealing. I found another exporting company and set up new licenses but turned to MGM or Match Grade Machine to provide custom barrels to continue to provide barrels for both the Encore and Contender. This continues to the present day.
Eventually, the supply of factory TC barrels improved in the US - but not in Canada. I turned to a prominent US retailer and, through my exporter, was able to purchase and import TC barrels into Canada. Not efficient but it got the barrels here for Canadian hunters and shooters. With the announcement that TC was shutting the doors, the question is once again, where to get standard reasonably priced barrels for Encores and Contenders. Enter SSK industries. I will be carrying a selection of standard barrels in popular calibers for an off the shelf solution for those looking for that. I also carry Bellm accessories to fine tune your Encore or Contender
Being a Tool and Die maker by trade, making and fixing things are second nature to me. I started looking for some barrel blanks for projects on the go. This search again indicated that Canada had a poor availability of barrel blanks so I expanded to importing barrels for gunsmiths and hobbyists. Green Mountain Barrels provides highly rated barrels (exceptional when the price is considered) and are available in a broad selection of calibers including Octagon profiles. I do have access to other brands as well. Because of this aspect of the business, a customer asked if I could get liners for barrels and this spawned the association with TJ's Liners and Redman Liners. Chaszel barrel inserts were a natural addition to the lines that I carry.
I guess you could say that NINE35 reflects my interests. So if you are interested in Encores, Contenders or if you have a re-barreling project on the go, you have come to the right place.
You may have guessed by the excessive use of the word "I" that NINE35 is a one man shop. If you call or e-mail you will talk to me (Ron). Being a one person operation means that I do it all. Sometimes there are delays and sometimes you get a prompt reply. A couple of housekeeping items to convey
1/Thanks to all my customers for their patience and patronage over the years. NINE35 is based in Southern Ontario but is web based only. There is no physical shop to visit.
2/I have great customers all across Canada having sold to every province and the Yukon. I'm still waiting for some customers from the Northwest Territories and Nunavut to complete the set - you are very welcome.
3/Being one person means that my website is not the prettiest, no pictures. If you need pictures most of the time the companies that I carry have pictures of their products on their websites (use the links on the home page). Besides, most of the products I sell are not very photogenic and pretty much look the same.
4/Speaking of website, most of the information is current and I try, but sometimes I sell out of a product and there is a lag to correct the site.
5/NINE35 is essentially a specialty shop dealing in barrels/liners/inserts and TC single shots. I cannot and do not make money by selling thousands of items at a low percentage. If you want to work with a company that says "I can get you that" and does, then you are at the right place. Pricing reflects the effort.
6/Internet scams are out there. NINE35 advertises regularly in the Canadian Access to Firearms. It is a hold in your hand monthly newspaper delivered to your door. It is full of great gun related shops and advertisements. You can go to their website and see sample copies of their product. NINE35 is listed as a distributor on Chaszel and MGM websites as their Canadian contact.
